Rose water

How to make rose water

Making your own is relatively easy. Gather some fresh dark red damask roses (or your favorite red, smelly ones!) preferably organically grown and definitely pest and pesticide free.

Infuse in very hot, distilled water for 45 minutes. Strain and contain. Unfortunately, because it is a pure form and contains no preservatives it should be kept in a sealed jar in the fridge. Outside of the fridge it will only keep for about 4 or 5 days.

Also you can make Marzipan - the original recipe calls for almonds, sugar androse water!
You can also mix it with Mango Yogurt.

For eyes

Attractive people usually have that spark and glow to their eyes that is contagious. A neat trick for eyes that sparkle is glowing eyes insert 2 drops of pure rose water using a dropper. This also gives you a special eye lift. Helps to remove the dark circles from under the eyes.

 For Oily Skin

A cotton ball and a dip of rosewater solves the problem. It works to reduce oil and also to revive my skin’s color. I store the rosewater in the refrigerator so that it lasts longer and also because the coolness helps in making my skin look fresh.

ACNE REMEDY - ROSE WATER

How is Rose Water a Natural Acne Remedy?

The chemical composition of the rose flower is extremely complex as it contains over 300 chemical ingredients. The most significant ones that are useful as a natural acne remedy are Phenyl ethanol which is a natural antiseptic and disinfectant, and Eugenol which is anti-microbial and astringent.

Both of these compounds are effective for use against acne and some other skin ailments. The root cause of acne is an excess production of sebum which accumulates in the sebaceous glands. The antiseptic and anti-microbial properties of the rose water can kill the bacteria that leads to this over-production thus preventing the acne flare-up.

How to Use Rose Water as a Natural Acne Remedy

There are two main ways in which rose water can be used as a natural acne remedy. The first way is simply to apply the rose water directly to the affected area and use it like a facial mask. The second method is to use aromatherapy.

Instead of rose water, you can purchase the essential oil, rose oil which contains the essential extract of the rose and then use this in a variety of ways as part of an aromatherapy treatment. You can mix a few drops of the rose oil with a carrier oil (or even olive oil) and then massage this gently into the affected areas.

If you have acne in more difficult to reach areas such as the back, you can try taking a bath with a few drops of rose oil added to the water.

Lastly, there are many cosmetic products that contain rose water or rose extract such as moisturizers, facial cleansers and so on.

Skin Deep and Yoga

Let's see how Yoga can be useful for taking care of your skin & hair

Yoga has the potential to reduce facial wrinkles and produce a natural 'face-lift'. This is mainly due to the inverted postures such as the head and handstands.

Doing these postures for a few minutes each day, has the potential to reverse the effect of gravity and use it to our advantage.

It also increases the circulation to the face that will bring much needed nutrients and oxygen to rejuvenate and remove toxin causing matter. Mentally you will become calmer and your body will not experience stress like effects that will cause you to frown and screw up your face.
Also you will sleep a lot better and this always helps in a fresh ready to go look.
-If you are tired, you definitely aren't looking your best-
The result is firmer facial muscles, which cause a reduction in wrinkles, and a natural face-lift.

The result is firmer facial muscles, which cause a reduction in wrinkles, and a natural face-lift.

The inverted yoga postures often convert gray hair back to its natural color and they will certainly delay the onset of gray hair. This is due to the inverted postures causing an increase in blood supply to the hair follicles in the scalp.

Increased flexibility of the neck produced by the asanas also helps by removing the pressure on the blood vessels and nerves in the neck, therefore giving the head an even greater blood supply to the scalp.

The nerves in the neck supply the scalp muscles and the release of pressure on the nerves in the neck will help the scalp muscles to relax.

This gives the hair follicles better nourished and thicker healthier hair is the ongoing result.

Yoga will take years from your face and add years to your life. As you get older, you will take on an ageless appearance. No one will have any idea how old you are, not that it matters.

Make your skin glow with yoga

As you know Yoga is a very good way to improve the metabolism process in your body.
Here are some better ways for your Health Through Movement

Yoga gives your skin a healthy glow by balancing your hormones and boosting the flow of oxygen-rich blood to your skin. This keeps your skin resilient and prevents dryness and excessive sagging. Yoga also tones the muscles of your face and neck. These poses target your facial skin.

What to Do?

Practice these poses every day. Please be committed to a daily practice of deep breathing and a variety of postures to get the effects;

 1 Face Massage
Sit on the floor with a tall spine with your eyes closed, and rub your hands together vigorously to warm them. Place all your fingertips on your eyebrows with your pinkie fingers next to each other. Firmly press along your brows, moving your right hand to the right and your left hand to the left, until you reach your temples. Repeat this several times, each time moving up a quarter-inch until you reach your hairline. Imagine you are smoothing out worry lines.

2. Place your fingertips on the bridge of your nose and swipe downward along your cheekbones, as if you are wiping away tears, as pictured. Repeat.

3. Press your fingertips into your temples and make small circles.

 4. Open your mouth. Press the heels of your hands into your jaw (near your ear lobes), and make more small circles.

5. Use your fingertips to press your chin up toward your cheeks, as if you were molding your skin into a smile.

6. Repeat steps 1 to 5, this time using a gentler, lighter touch and adding a circular motion to all the steps. Your entire massage should last at least 10 minutes.

 2 Lion

1. Kneel on the floor and then sit down on your heels, or sit on the edge of a chair. Rest your hands on your knees with your fingers spread apart. Imagine that you are a regal lion, fierce and powerful. Take a deep breath in through your nose as you lengthen your spine.

2. Lean forward slightly as you exhale through your mouth, extending your tongue out as far as you can, opening your eyes and mouth wide, and roaring "Aaah!" At the same time, lift your hands off your knees and spread your fingers wide, pretending they are claws, as pictured.

3. When you have exhaled completely, sit back, return your hands to your knees, and relax. Take two full, deep breaths. And then take another deep breath in through your nose as you lengthen your spine.

4. Repeat steps 2 to 3 three more times. When you're done, sit for a moment and notice how you feel.

3 Forward Elbow Clasp

Caution: Avoid this pose if you have glaucoma, a detached retina, eye or ear inflammation, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or a history of heart disease or stroke, or if you are pregnant.

1. Stand with your feet about hip width apart and your arms at your sides.

2. Keep your feet rooted to the floor as you fold forward from your hips, keeping your back flat. Continue until your torso is hanging from your hips, and then grasp each elbow with the opposite hand, as pictured. If you feel unsteady, stand a few inches away from a wall and lean your buttocks against the wall. Keep your legs strong and allow your torso to spill out of your waist like a waterfall, noticing the weight of your head. Gaze through your legs to the wall behind you. Hold for 3 to 10 breaths. Imagine that you are bowing to your inner beauty.

3. To release, lift your abdominal muscles toward your spine and keep your back flat as you raise your torso to an upright position. Unhook your elbows and pause to notice how you feel. If you are lightheaded, sit or lie down for a moment.

Pepper - Medicinal Properties and Benefits

I got something to share upon a very good medicinal herb.

Pepper - Medicinal Properties and Benefits

Pepper
Pepper, also known as the “king of spices” is one of the oldest and most important of all spices. The pepper plant is a stout, smooth evergreen creeper, much swollen at its nodes.

Black pepper is the whole dried fruit, while white is the fruit subjected to treatment in water with the mesocarp removed. Both varieties are ground and used in a powdered form. Black pepper is stimulant, pungent, aromatic, digestive and nervine tonic. Its pungency is due to the resin chavicin, which is most abundant in the mesocarp.

Black pepper consist of moisture 13.2 percent, protein 11.5 percent, fat 6.8 percent, minerals 4.4 percent, fiber 14.9 percent and carbohydrates 49.2 percent per 100 grams. Its mineral and vitamin contents are calcium, iron, phosphorus, carotene, thiamine, riboflavin and niacin.

Botanical Name: Piper nigrum
Indian Name: Kali mirch

Health Benefits of Pepper

Below are some of the medicinal properties of Pepper:

- Pepper is an appetizer and a good home remedy for digestive disorders. It has a stimulating effect on the digestive organs and produces an increased flow of saliva and gastric juices. Powdered black pepper, thoroughly mixed with malted jaggery, may be taken in the treatment of such conditions. Alternatively, a quarter teaspoon of pepper powder mixed in the buttermilk can be taken during indigestion or heaviness in the stomach. For better results, an equal part of cumin powder may also be added to the buttermilk.

- Pepper powder and common salt mixture is an excellent dentifrice. Its daily use prevents dental caries, foul breath, bleeding from the gums, painful gums, toothaches and cures the increased sensitiveness of the teeth. A pinch of pepper powder mixed with clove oil can be put in the caries to alleviate toothache.

- Pepper is useful in the treatment of cold and fever. Six pepper seeds finely ground and mixed in a glass of warm water along with 6 pieces of batasha – a variety of sugar candy can be taken for a few nights for good results. In case of acute coryza or cold in the head, 20 grams pepper powder boiled in milk with a pinch of turmeric powder can be used once daily for three days.

- As an external application, pepper dilates the superficial vessels and acts as a counter irritant. A tablespoon of pepper powder fried in sesame oil until it is charred can be applied beneficially as an analgesic liniment for mylagia and rheumatic pains.

- A pinch of finely ground pepper mixed with honey taken twice a day is beneficial in amnesia or dullness of intellect.

- Pepper is a valuable remedy for cough caused due to throat irritation. Three peppers sucked with a pinch of caraway seeds and a crystal of common salt provides relief.

- Eating 6 peppers with 4 almonds once daily with milk is a nerve tonic and act as an aphrodisiac especially in an impotent person.

- Pepper is effective in pyorrhea or pus in the gums. Finely powdered pepper and salt mixture when massaged over the gums relieves inflammation.
